During this very challenging period, the UK government has asked companies to maintain operations “to keep the country running”, and the Scottish government specified to keep operational key strategic sites that are contributing something to the fight against coronavirus, or essential to the wellbeing of the nation.
SEH is the world’s largest producer of silicon wafers, and one third of all of the world’s electronics is built upon the silicon we produce, including semiconductors for medical applications. SEH is proud to be a supplier to all of the world’s largest producers of medical semiconductors.
Those products produced by semiconductor companies – our customers – are vital for medical equipment, from the critical health items such as ventilators, to containment measures such as non-contact thermometers. Those items are in very short supply, and manufacturers have high pressure trying to manufacture more of these, quickly.
Silicon is the fundamental building block for those, and without silicon those products cannot be produced. Therefore we are complying with all government advice, while working to maintain supply so that our customers can produce those products and provide to the world.
In order to maintain this supply chain and our production, following the advice of the UK and Scottish Governments, SEH Europe has taken appropriate steps to help the fight against coronavirus including allowing all staff who can work from home to do so, operating our business with social distancing measures in place whilst maintaining all health and safety requirements. We are implementing all government safety advice and carrying out necessary systems to protect our employees from COVID19.
